In this training, participants transcribe a Buddhist sutra. It was conducted to spread the teachings of Buddha during a time before the development of printing technology, but now, it is done as a form of prayer.
It is said that transcribing each and every character with empty mind has the effects of improving concentration, improving posture and relaxing.
The Important Points of Shakyo
Trace the lettering in the 276 characters long “The Heart of Prajna Paramita Sutra,” which has been thinly pre-printed on Japanese writing paper.
Spending time getting away from the bustle of daily life and grinding an ink stick in a quiet place can help you relax.
It does not matter how good or bad your penmanship is. The important thing is to write each and every character carefully.
*On the day of the workshop, we will provide you with “Shakyo Guidelines,” so please be sure to read it prior to the workshop.
